BMW 320d chiptuning results - before and after comparison
Just finished chiptuning my 2020 G20 320d (B47 engine, 190hp stock). Wanted to share detailed before and after results for anyone considering a remap on this engine.
Stock numbers (measured on Maha roller dyno):
- 185hp at wheels (slightly below BMW spec, normal)
- 385nm torque
After stage 1 ECU remap:
- 238hp at wheels
- 462nm torque
Thats a gain of 53hp and 77nm from just a software change. No hardware modifications needed.
Real world differences I noticed:
- 0-100 km/h feels about 1.5 seconds faster
- Highway overtaking is effortless now, 80-120 km/h in 6th gear is where the biggest improvement is
- Fuel consumption stayed the same in normal driving (5.2L/100km highway)
- Turbo spools slightly earlier, more responsive below 2000rpm
The tune was done remotely - I received an OBD tool, read the ECU file, sent it to the tuner, and flashed the modified file back. Whole process took about 2 hours.
Anyone else running a tuned B47? What numbers are you seeing?
