OEM Brake Pads
BMW uses pads from Textar, ATE, or Jurid depending on the model. OEM pads are designed for:
- Low noise and dust
- Good cold bite
- Consistent feel across temperature range
- Long pad life
Downsides: Moderate fade resistance, not ideal for track use

Important Considerations
Brake Pad Bedding
New pads MUST be bedded in properly:
- 10 moderate stops from 60 km/h
- 5 firm stops from 80 km/h
- Cool-down drive for 5 minutes (no hard braking)
- Allow pads to fully cool before aggressive use
Pad/Rotor Compatibility
- Aggressive pads wear rotors faster
- Track pads on stock rotors = faster rotor wear
- Match pad aggressiveness to rotor quality
Wear Sensors
- BMW uses electronic wear sensors (one per axle)
- Sensors are single-use — replace with every pad change
- Cost: €5-15 each
Brake Dust
- BMW OEM pads produce moderate dust
- Low-dust aftermarket options: EBC Redstuff, Akebono Euro
- Ceramic pads produce less dust but may have less initial bite
