E87 120d timing chain rattle - how urgent?

My E87 120d N47 has developed a timing chain rattle on cold start. Its been doing it for about 2 weeks now. How urgent is this? Can I drive it for a while or do I need to fix it ASAP? Ive heard the N47 timing chain can snap and destroy the engine. Scared to drive it now tbh.

had the same rattle on mine. got it fixed for 1800 EUR. expensive but way cheaper than a new engine. do it asap

My N47 chain snapped at 120k km. Engine was destroyed. Cost me 5000 EUR for a used engine swap. Dont wait, fix it immediately.

GET IT FIXED NOW. The N47 timing chain can snap without warning and destroy the engine. Dont drive it more than necessary until its fixed. This is not something you can put off.
