New G60 530i B48 — first impressions and ECU tuning plans

Just picked up a 2025 G60 530i with the B48 engine making 258hp. First impressions after 3000km: The new 5 Series is a massive step up from the G30. The interior quality is outstanding, the iDrive 8.5 system is excellent, and the ride comfort is superb. The B48 engine is smooth and refined but feels a bit underpowered for a car this size. That is where tuning comes in. The B48 in the G60 should respond to a stage 1 ECU remap the same way it does in the G20 330i — expecting around 300hp and 420Nm with a quality tune. That would transform the car from comfortable cruiser to genuinely quick. Has anyone tuned a G60 yet? Are BM3 and MHD supporting the new G60 platform? Also curious about coding options — I want to enable the sport displays and disable the auto start-stop default.

Running the G60 530e myself — the 48V mild hybrid system is genuinely impressive for daily driving. The B48 with electric assist feels seamless, almost like a small turbo anti-lag effect off the line. iDrive 8.5 is a massive leap over previous generations. One tip: update to the latest software via BMW Connected — they pushed an OTA update last month that improved the adaptive suspension calibration noticeably. Fuel consumption sits around 6.2L/100km mixed for me, which is solid for a 2-tonne sedan.

The G60 platform is interesting from a tuning perspective too. Early reports show the B48 in the 530i responds well to a stage 1 ECU remap — gains of around 30-40hp are realistic. The ZF 8HP is still the same proven unit so TCU tuning works as expected. My only concern is the increasing reliance on encrypted ECU communications — tools like MHD and BM3 are still catching up with the new DME. Give it 6-12 months and the aftermarket support should be solid.
