Buying a used BMW from Germany - tips and pitfalls
Ive imported 3 BMWs from Germany to Lithuania. Here are my tips:
- Always check the VIN on BMW ETK for full spec
- Use mobile.de or autoscout24.de to find cars
- Get a pre-purchase inspection (100-200 EUR)
- Check for flood damage (common with German cars)
- Verify mileage with BMW dealer (they can check service history)
- Budget for transport (500-800 EUR to Baltics)
- Budget for registration and taxes
Biggest pitfall: cars that look perfect in photos but have hidden problems. ALWAYS inspect in person or hire someone local to inspect.
