E92 M3 S65 - rod bearing inspection at 80k km

Just had my E92 M3 rod bearings inspected at 80k km. Good news - they were still in decent shape but showing some wear. Had them replaced preventively with BE bearings. Total cost was about 2500 EUR including labor. Worth it for peace of mind. If you have an S65 with over 60k km, get them checked! The S65 is an amazing engine but the rod bearing issue is real. Dont ignore it.

BE bearings are the way to go. They have better clearances than the OEM bearings. My S65 has been running BE bearings for 40k km with no issues.

Rod bearing inspection is essential on S65. Good call doing it at 80k. The cost of prevention is nothing compared to the cost of failure.
