My F10 535i is stage 2 and im hitting the limits of the stock turbo. Want to go bigger. Options ive been looking at:

  1. Pure Stage 2 turbo (~500hp)
  2. Vargas VTT GC turbo (~550hp)
  3. Full custom hybrid turbo (~600hp)

Car is a daily driver but I also do some track days. Dont want to go too crazy. Which turbo upgrade would you recommend for a good balance of power and reliability?

Pure Stage 2 turbo is the sweet spot for daily + track. 500hp is plenty and its still reliable. The VTT is more power but also more stress on the engine.

For a daily driver with occasional track use, the Pure Stage 2 turbo is the sweet spot. It bolts onto the stock manifold, uses the stock oil and coolant lines, and makes around 480-500hp with supporting mods. Spool is only slightly slower than stock. The VTT GC is more power but spools noticeably later - better for drag racing than daily driving.

Before going big turbo on the N55, make sure your supporting mods are solid: upgraded HPFP, port injection kit, FMIC, catless downpipe, and a proper fuel system. The stock fuel system maxes out around 450hp. Also budget for a built transmission or at least a TCU tune - the ZF 8HP can handle 500hp with a good TCU flash but stock programming will slip.
