G20 330i xDrive vs RWD - which handles better?

Test drove both the G20 330i RWD and xDrive. The RWD felt more playful and engaging. The xDrive felt more planted but less fun.

I live in Lithuania where we get snow 4-5 months a year. Is xDrive worth the compromise in handling? Or can I get by with RWD and winter tires?

Also heard xDrive adds weight and reduces fuel economy. How much difference in real world?

I have the 330i xDrive and honestly in dry conditions you cant tell the difference from RWD. The xDrive system sends most power to the rear until it detects slip. In rain and snow though, the xDrive is a completely different car - so much more confidence. If you live somewhere with real winters, xDrive is worth it.

RWD handles better on track, period. The xDrive adds about 70kg and the front end isnt as sharp. But for daily driving the difference is minimal. I had both and sold the RWD because I got tired of swapping winter tires and still sliding around in December.

From a mechanics perspective, xDrive adds complexity - transfer case, front driveshaft, front diff. More things that can wear out. But BMW xDrive is very reliable these days. Just make sure to change the transfer case fluid every 60k km and youll be fine.
