G30 540i - should I be worried about B58 timing chain?

Just bought a 2018 G30 540i with the B58 engine, 68k km. Beautiful car but ive been reading some reports about B58 timing chain issues on higher mileage cars. Is this a real concern or internet fear mongering? The car runs perfectly, no noises, no codes. Just want to know what to watch out for as the mileage goes up. Coming from an N55 which was bulletproof so hoping the B58 is similar.

The B58 is one of BMWs best engines ever made. Timing chain issues are extremely rare compared to the N20/N26 which had real problems. At 68k km youre fine. Just keep up with oil changes (every 10k km max, dont follow BMWs 24k km interval) and use quality oil. The B58 will easily do 300k+ km with proper maintenance.

The B58 fixed most of the issues from previous generations. The timing chain is much more robust. The main things to watch on the B58 are: - Coolant loss (expansion tank cap) - VANOS solenoid issues (rare) - Charge pipe cracking if tuned But honestly its a very reliable engine. Enjoy it.
