BMW oil change interval - 24k km is way too long right?

BMW says my G20 can go 24,000 km between oil changes based on the CBS (condition based service). That seems insanely long to me. My previous car (Toyota) was every 10k km. What interval do you guys actually follow? I use the car mostly for highway commuting, about 30k km per year.

24k km is the MAXIMUM interval and honestly we think its too long. We recommend 10-12k km or once a year, whichever comes first. BMW extended the intervals to reduce ownership costs on paper (for leasing calculations) but its not great for long-term engine health. The oil breaks down, especially with turbo engines that run hot.

I do 10k km religiously on my diesel. Oil analysis showed the oil was still ok at 10k but degrading fast after 15k. 24k is asking for trouble imo. Use a quality LL-01 or LL-04 spec oil and change it at 10k. Your engine will thank you at 200k km.

10k km gang here. I've seen too many engines with sludge buildup from people following the 24k interval. Its especially bad for short trip driving where the oil never fully warms up. For highway commuting youre better off than city drivers but I'd still do 12-15k max.

my N54 mechanic told me that the extended oil change interval is the single biggest cause of premature engine wear on modern BMWs. he sees it constantly. just change it every 10k and use good oil. its cheap insurance.
